The Spantik Peak Expedition is a classic high-altitude mountaineering journey to Spantik (7,027m), famously known as the Golden Peak due to its striking glow at sunrise and sunset. Located in the Karakoram Range, Spantik is regarded as one of the most accessible 7,000-meter peaks, making it an ideal objective for climbers transitioning toward 8,000-meter expeditions. This 31-day expedition follows the scenic Chogo Lungma Glacier, combining remote trekking, gradual acclimatization, and a rewarding summit challenge amid some of Pakistan’s most spectacular mountain landscapes.
The Spantik Peak climbing expedition is widely considered the finest introduction to 7,000-meter mountaineering in the Karakoram. Known locally as the Golden Peak due to the way its marble wall glows at sunrise, Spantik (7,027m) is the premier objective for climbers aiming to bridge the gap between 6,000m trekking peaks and the world’s 8,000m giants.
Located between the Shigar and Nagar valleys, the expedition follows the classic Southeast Ridge. This route is prized for its lack of extreme objective dangers—such as major serac falls or high avalanche risk—and its relatively straightforward snow slopes. Our 31-day Spantik Peak climbing expedition for 2026 provides a generous window for acclimatization and weather contingencies, ensuring a safe and professionally managed summit attempt on this iconic Pakistani peak.
The peak is graded AD (Assez Difficile). While it is not a “trekking peak,” it is the most accessible 7,000m summit in Pakistan for experienced mountain enthusiasts. If you’re looking for a slightly challenging summit, check out consider checking out Rakaposhi Climbing Expedition.
The Spantik Peak climbing route is primarily a snow climb with angles ranging from 30° to 45°. There are a few short, steep sections near Camp 2 and Camp 3 that require fixed ropes for safety. The primary challenge is the physical endurance required for the long summit ridge and navigating the Chogo Lungma Glacier.
